Yukiko Shikata is a curator and art critic. She is Artistic Director of "Forest of Dialogue and Creativity”, visiting professor at Tama Art University and Tokyo Zokei University, lecturer at Musashino Art University, Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences (IAMAS), and postgraduate school of Kokugakuin University. Her activities traverse existing fields with a focus on “Information flows”. In parallel working as a curator of Cannon ARTLAB (1990-2001), Mori Art Museum (2002-2004), NTT ICC (2004-2010). As independent curator, projects include SIAF (Sapporo International Art Festival) in 2014, KENPOKU ART(Ibaraki Kenpoku Art Festival) in 2016, Director of AMIT (Art, Media and I, Tokyo) during 2014-2018, EIR/Energies inn the Rural (Liminaria, Italy + Aomori Contemporary Art Centre) in 2021 (ongoing). She has led symposium of AICA Japan, MMFS 2020, Forum “Information as a form of ” (2021), Forum “Spirits as Energy|Stone, Water, Forest and Human” (2021). With Shu Lea Cheang, she has co-curated (also with Armin Medosch) “Kingdom of Piracy” (2001-2006) and “Forking PiraGene” for LAB KILL LAB in 2020.
