Bedtime Board, a mural night light made with LilyPad Arduino, lets babies fall asleep to the sound of a lullaby against a starry sky.

Why not put the little ones to sleep with a LilyPad Arduino night light? Bedtime Board is a starry sky that twinkles while playing a lullaby. Found on Instructables, this mural night light uses LilyPad, an Arduino microcontroller used in e-textiles and ideal for creating interactive musical fabric. With just a bit of cardboard, felt stars, LEDs and some sewing talent, you too can design your own sky in 5 easy steps.

Following an MIT tutorial, Bedtime Board’s author programmed the melody of Brahms’ lullaby. She also uploaded to Instructables the code for the sound. Of course, gentle night music has infinite variations.

The advantage of LilyPad boards is that they’re designed to have several connection points, so that you can sew the object right into an article of clothing. They’re also washable! Although it does wear down the components…
