Makesound by Jean-Philippe Renoult: The Woma CNC

At Woma, collaborative workspace in Paris, the CNC occupies an entire room. This computer-controlled digital tool-machine commands everyone’s respect. Here it is, picked up in binaural by the artist Jean-Philippe Renoult. Headphones highly recommended!

It lives on its own in a dedicated room. Shut away behind padded dividing walls. When you get close you are warned of its sound “dangerousness”. When it functions, you need to wear hearing protection, as per instructions…I also wore the headphones. They are not soundproof, and I’m not even frightened…As often in these circumstances, I look for noises between noises, small ones behind big ones. Noise is like chaos, it’s beautiful when it organizes itself…

With the voice of Alexandre from Woma, co-working and co-making space in Paris 19th.
